Dawn Darby
Co-Founder and Executive Director

Dawn is our Executive Director and Co-Founder of The Therapy Place. Dawn holds a Masters of Public Administration from the University of South Carolina, with an emphasis in Non-Profits and Grants. She has work experience as the Grants Manager of Richland County, and also served as a Grants Writer for a local BoyScouts chapter. Dawn lives in Columbia with her husband, James and two children, Cooper and Laura, and their dog, Chrissy. Dawn enjoys reading and golf.

Teresa Fleming Business Manager

Teresa is our billing manager. She joins The Therapy Place with over 20 years of experience in medical insurance billing. Teresa lives in Lexington with her husband Eric, their daughters Marisa and Eliana, and their spoiled black Lab Princess Penelope. She enjoys hula hooping, reading, photography and learning to garden.

Kate Schoen. MOT, OTR/L Occupational Therapist

Kate is our Occupational Therapist. She graduated from the University of Missouri with her Bachelors of Science and Masters of Occupational Therapy. Kate has been a pediatric OT for over 3 years. She has been trained in Handwriting Without Tears, pediatric feeding and NDT Perspective for Pediatrics, and Myofascial Release. Kate originally grew up in Belleville, IL and has lived in SC for over 3 years, with her cat, Mocha. She enjoys scuba diving and rock climbing.

Liz Ward, MSP, CCC/SLP
Speech Language Pathologist

Liz is our Speech Language Pathologist. She graduated from Presbyterian College with her Bachelors of Science in Special Education, and achieved her Masters of Speech Pathlogy at the University of South Carolina. She has been a speech therapist for over 4 years, and has experience in pediatric feeding and swallowing, articulation, and language disorders. Liz lives in Columbia and enjoys reading and doing pilates.


Danielle Fordham, DPT
Physical Therapist

Danielle is one of our Physical Therapists. She graduated from the University of South Carolina with her Bachelors in Exercise Science, and received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina. Danielle has been a pediatrics physical therapist for over 3 years. She is also a certified personal trainer, and has training in myofascial release techniques. Danielle currently lives in Lexington, SC with her husband, Cliff, son, Colton and her two rescue dogs, Madison and Tanner. She enjoys running around after her toddler, spending time with family, reading and shopping.

Lisa Schoch, DPT
Physical Therapist

Lisa is one of our Physical Therapists. She graduated with her Bachelors of Science from Westminster College, and received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of South Carolina. She has been a pediatric PT for 2 years. She has continuing education experience in Kinesiotaping for adults and pediatrics and Gait Mechanics. Lisa has also been trained and certified in TheraSuit and the TheraSuit method. Lisa originally hails from Pennsylvania, and has enjoyed living in Columbia, SC for over 5 years now. She loves her dog, Salem and is involved with her church community missions team and enjoys running and reading.

Brooke Lindsey Office Manager

Brooke is our Office Manager. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with her Bachelors of Arts in Public Relations. She has experience assisting in public relation campaigns for The Walker Foundation and the South Carolina Special Olympics. Brooke is originally from Georgia. She is involved in singing in different venues throughout Columbia and also enjoys reading.

Erin Bellinder Bridges Coordinator

Erin is our Bridges Coordinator. She graduated from Luther College, where she received her Bachelors in Music Education. She is originally from Wisconsion, and lived for a period in Kansas, where she worked as a special education teacher in a 4th-6th grade resource room. Erin moved to South Carolina over 3 years ago and is currently working towards a Masters degree in Special Education and Music Therapy. Erin lives in Columbia, SC with her husband, Chris with the world's cutest dog, Jake. Erin enjoys camping, bicycling and spending time on her boat.

Paris Knotts
Bridges Assistant

Paris is one of our Bridges Assistants. He graduated from Lander University with his Bachelors in Exercise Science. He has worked at Camp Burnt Gin, a camp for children with physical disabilities and chronic illnesses, for over 5 summers. Paris enjoys running, reading, cooking and eating. He also has a little shih tzu/ chihuahua mix named Oreo.

Tish Browder
Bridges Assistant

Tish is one of our Bridges Assistants. Tish has previously taught second grade at Orangeburg Christian Academy for 3 years. She recently went back to school after 15 years, and earned her degree in Criminal Justice. Tish was born and raised in St. Matthews, SC, and currently lives in West Columbia with her husband, Mark She has four children, Chase, Hunter, Elizabeth, John-Preston and a step-daughter, Lauren. Tish enjoys spending time with her family, shopping, reading and cooking.
