In 2009, thanks in part to the participants of our first charity golf tournament, 8 children with cerebral palsy experienced 5 weeks, 3 hours per day (75 hours!) of Conductive Education—a program combining physical and occupational therapy techniques with educational methods to help children with motor disorders gain independence through improved mobility, social and daily living skills. The children realized improvements in muscle tone, helping muscles to grow properly. Participating in regular stretching and exercise improves strength and limits the propensity for muscle deformation and bone fractures. In 2010, The Therapy Place moved into a 7,500+ square foot facility to provide innovative traditional and nontraditional therapies. This Tournament will allow us to purchase equipment, provide scholarships and provide a resource room for our families.
