Mission
The Bridges program at The Therapy Place is a holistic therapeutic approach to child development. We employ the skills and expertise of physical, occupational, and speech therapists, as well as educators, parents, and other staff. The main goal of Bridges is to encourage independence, cognitive development, and socialization. We believe in using a multi-disciplinary approach to meet the individual needs of the whole child.
Candidates: We believe that any child with a developmental delay in one or more of the following areas can benefit from this intensive approach: gross and/or fine motor, language, and cognitive. This may include, but is not limited to, children with developmental delay and/or neurological disorders (including but not limited to Cerebral Palsy, TBI and stroke). Admission is based on consult with the Bridges Coordinator.

Routine: The routine of Bridges is centered around independence. For many of our children, this means movement. Children are learning to roll, crawl, and walk. Some use assistance as we continue to teach the gross and fine motor skills necessary for independence. We encourage learning to move independently by allowing time in the day for children to make choices. Life skills and self-help are a central theme to the day. This can include eating, toilet training, communication, and daily hygiene. The other main focus is socialization. Children not only learn from the staff, but the other children in the program as well. We encourage creativity, play, and communication with peers. Throughout the day the children participate in music, art, and other cognitive development skills like learning colors, shapes, and writing.

Enrollment: As part of the enrollment procedure, families will be asked to fill out and provide different forms including: student registration, medical records, recent IEP or IFSP, and reports from other therapists. Children will have evaluations with staff to help with the plan of care. Families will also have a meeting with Bridges coordinator and therapists to discuss goals and plan of care for each child.
